Determination of chloramphenicol residues in animal-derived food by SPE and HPLC/MS/MS

AbstractAn automated solid phase extractor (EXTRA) and high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC/MS/ MS) method was established for the determination of chloramphenicol in animal-derived food. Samples were extracted using ethyl acetate and cleaned up on EXTRA, followed by determination of the residues by HPLC/MS/ MS using atmospheric pressure chemical ionization in the negative ion mode, and using a deuterated internal standard (CAP-d5). The recoveries and the RSDs were both meet the requirements. The method was proved to be good reproducibility, high sensitivity, rapid, reliable and suitable for the determination of chloramphenicol.

Conclusion
The work shown here provides a sensitive and rapid HPLC/MS/MS method with all automated solid phase extra instrument (EXTRA) for determination of chloramphenicol in animal-derived food. Samples.The method was proved to be good reproducibility, reliable, the recoveries and the RSDs were both meet the requirements. Therefore, this method is suitable for determination of large quantities of samples, and work well for screening the foodstuff of animal origin sold in the market.
